Akira and Suzanna had their first date on Feb. 29, 2024 — Leap Day! Suzanna thought he had the best smile she’d ever seen and was silly for doing dry January in February. Akira thought she was very independent, cute and loved her whiskey.

Since then they’ve built their life together with adventures all across Alaska and North America, big days in the mountains on mountain bikes and skis, and quiet moments in the garden.

They had a legal ceremony on Nov. 28, 2025 (Black Friday!) so Suzanna can get on Akira’s health insurance. It might be sooner than expected, but they are so excited to start their life together!
